About Us

The boundaries of the City of Elliot Lake cover 800 square miles and include over 100 spring fed lakes, surrounded by wilderness Crown land.

Historically, the Crown land could not be accessed but 10 years ago the Province of Ontario, in cooperation with the City of Elliot Lake, adopted a new philosophy to share the environment with others.

During this time, a private member's bill known as the City of Elliot Lake Act received Royal Assent. This special legislation enabled the City of Elliot Lake to acquire, market and sell Crown land for waterfront development. The seven member Elliot Lake Residential Development Commission was established to carry out the necessary work to bring the lots to market.

The vision of the Commission and the City is to make a significant contribution to the economic diversification of the City of Elliot Lake by providing the opportunity for families of all ages to enjoy residential, cottage life.

This project will preserve the pristine natural environment while introducing cottage development on a sound, sustainable basis for the future, through deliberate planning and research.
